As CUW alumni (and with two of our children, thus fat, attending), the strength, vitality, arnd Lutheran identity of our Concordias matter to my wife and me. "Lutheran" isn't a label; it's a confession--a strong and beautiful one! It's a way of thinking, speaking, worshiping, and living that is centered in Christ, His Word, and His Sacraments, and it reaches into the lives of our neighbors and into all creation. The church needsus to be Luther- an. Our schools need us to be Lutheran. Our neighbors need us to be Lutheran. And the world needs us to be Lutheran.

As a Concordia graduate and Lu- theran educator, I have the opportunity to confess Christ and use my vocation to serve others-values instilled in me as a child and fostered at Concordia. My service this past three years on the CUWAA Board of Regents has allowed me to support the church's mission for future generations, including my own students. I would gladly serve another term to support Concordia in being a fiscally responsible university that upholds our Lutheran identity, sustains church worker formation, and prepares every student across all programs to serve Christ in the church and the world.

Personal statement
I have a strong passion for supporting students and helping organizations improve. From more than 25 years of providing volunteer admissions support to all five U.S. military academies to serving as a part-time adjunct professor, to more than 12 years of serving as chairman of my Coast Guard Academy class stewardship committee, to having served in the dual roles of registrar and chief technology officer at a non-resident school with over 40,000 students, I have a breadth of diverse education-related experiences. Following my retirement from the Coast Guard as a senior officer, organizational, process, and governance improvement became a career focus for me in both profit and nonproft organizations, including in the Eastern District and local churches.

I've been honored to serve our Lord's church as a CUWAA regent, evern during the diffcult challenges of the past three years. If reelected, and with the help of God, I will continue this service with a focus on financial stability and the vital mission of educating future Lutheran church workers and Christian citizens at both Mequon and Ann Arbor. I believe our Lord has prepared me with the gifts-as an LCMS congregation leader, college instructor, and local government volunteer--to assist CUWAA's mission. I look forward to providing the principled policy-making necessary for our university to serve the church.

It is a challenging time for higher education, as scholarship and even science itself are endangered by anti-Christian ideologies that usurp and even mock the pursuit of truth. Students need the truth to be taught in all its purity more than ever. The Concordias should be uncompromisingly dedicated both to educational and scientific integrity and to eternal, biblical truths about sin, salvation, and mercy. Boards must support teachers and administrators in the pursuit of excellence, integrity, and uncompromising dedication to the Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions. I have over 30 years of experience in higher education and would contribute my experience to maintaining and improving the colleges.
