Duties

Three-year term (limit four terms). Three one-day meetings and one two-day meeting per year. The board oversees the use of LCEF's assets to provide financial resources and services for ministry, witness, and outreach to the LCMS. All directors must have an understanding of the church-extension program or expertise in fields closely related to it, such as real estate, management, and financial planning.

Desired qualifications

Broad experience in one or more of: financial services, investments, loans and real estate, legal, banking, administration, marketing. Prior experience on other LCMS boards desirable.

Board meets quarterly (January at a ministry-site location, April in St. Louis, July via internet conference, October/November in St. Louis). Committee meetings are held via internet conference prior to the regular meeting. Board meetings are usually a day and a half, except for the first meeting of the calendar year, which adds a planning day.

Board members attend the Annual Meeting typically held each November in St. Louis. Must submit to FBI criminal background checks (required for mortgage lender licenses in certain states); some states require no conviction involving dishonesty, breach of trust, or fraud.
