WHEREAS, The 2023 Synod convention adopted Resolution 10- 06, “To Amend Bylaw 2.11.2.2 regarding Candidate Status,” that moved the filing deadline for the required candidate annual report from January 31 to July 31; and
WHEREAS, Annual reports for emeriti remain due on January 31; and
WHEREAS, Many district offices find it more efficient to request and process both candidate and emeriti annual reports simultaneously; and
WHEREAS, Candidates have no greater un availability during the summer months due to travel, seasonal jobs, or other obligations; and
WHEREAS, The preparation and conduct of both district and Synod conventions coincide with this annual reporting time period two out of every three years; therefore be it
Resolved, That Bylaw 2.11.2.2 (c) be amended as follows: PRESENT/PROPOSED WORDING Candidate 2.11.2.2 A “candidate” member is one who is eligible to perform the duties of any of the offices of ministry specified in By law section 2.11 but who is not currently an active member or an emeritus member. … (c) The candidate shall, by July January 31, make an annual report to the district president who shall determine the member’s eligibility to remain on candidate status. The candidate’s report shall include current contact information and address the criteria for remaining on candidate status. …
