To Amend Bylaw 2.11.2.2 (c) regarding Candidate Reporting

WHEREAS, Candidates are currently required to file an annual report with their district president by July 31 in accordance with Candidate Status”; and

WHEREAS, Many candidates are unavailable during the summer months due to travel, seasonal jobs, or other obligations; and

WHEREAS, In district convention years, the preparation and conduct of several district conventions coincides with the annual reporting time period, making it difficult for already-taxed district offices to attend to the work of requesting and processing these annual reports; and

WHEREAS, Annual reports for emeriti are due on January 31; and

WHEREAS, Many district offices find that it is more efficient to request and process both candidate and emeriti annual reports simultaneously; therefore be it

Resolved, That Bylaw 2.11.2.2 (c) be amended as follows: PRESENT/PROPOSED WORDING 2.11 Continued Eligibility of Individual Members Candidate 2.11.2.2 A “candidate” member is one who is eligible to perform the duties of any of the offices of ministry specified in By law section 2.11 but who is not currently an active member or an emeritus member. … (c) The candidate shall, by July January 31, make an annual report to the district president who shall determine the member’s eligibility to remain on candidate status.
