WHEREAS, The Supreme Court of the United States rendered the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision on June 24, 2022, holding that the Constitution of the United States does not confer a right to abortion and there by overturned the in famous Roe v. Wadedecisionof1973 which had made abortion legal throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, The Justices faced tremendous pressure from many different areas in making this decision and yet stood firm in support of the constitutional pro life position and in line with biblical moral principles; therefore be it

Resolved, That the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod offer our thanks and commendation to Associate Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, for standing firm in the face of tremendous pressure to render the Dobbs decision, overturning Roe and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992), and giving states the power to regulate abortion within their borders.
