To Thank the Lord of the Church for the Life and Ministry of Rev. Dr. Laokouxang (Kou) Seying

WHEREAS, Holy Scripture proclaims, “Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!” (Psalm 96:2–3); and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Laokouxang (Kou) Seying was the first Hmong pastor ordained in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Laokouxang (Kou) Seying devoted his life and ministry to expanding cross-cultural and multi ethnic ministry in the congregations, universities, seminaries, and global missions of our Synod; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Laokouxang (Kou) Seying intentionally worked to raise up a new generation of church workers from the Hmong and Laotian community; therefore be it

Resolved, That the Minnesota South District give thanks to the Lordofthe Church for the life and ministry of Rev. Dr. Laokouxang (Kou) Seying and for his lasting contributions toward cross-cultural and multi ethnic ministry and his living legacy of multi ethnic pastors and other church workers in our church body; and be it further

Resolved, That the district in convention hereby memorializes the Synod to adopt this resolution at its 2023 convention; and be it finally

Resolved, That the district in convention thank the Lord of the Church for the life and ministry of Rev. Dr. Laokouxang (Kou) Seying by standing and singing together the common doxology in English and Hmong.
