WHEREAS, The Rev. Dr. Gregory P. Schulz has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a pastor of The Lutheran Church— Missouri Synod and as a university faculty member in the area of philosophy, most recently as a faculty member at Concordia University Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Schulz has brought to light serious concerns regarding the infiltration of worldly and un biblical philosophies at Concordia University Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, Such concerns have been validated in aletter from the Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, President of the Synod, to the Concordia University Wisconsin Board of Regents dated May 9, 2022, following an official visitation to the university, in which Pastor Harrison wrote, inter alia: … throughout our visit, concerned faculty, staff, and students expressed concern over the introduction of secular diversity, equity, and inclusion language and initiatives into the mission of the university. This philosophy is laden with ideas antagonistic to the sacred Scriptures, including great lies about human sexuality and race … and
WHEREAS, Dr. Schulz was suspended from his position due to his good faith presentation of his concerns in the exercise of his academic freedom, and under circumstances which have caused harm to his reputation through public statements by administrators at Concordia University Wisconsin, with serious questions having been raised as to whether appropriate process was followed in such action; therefore be it
Resolved, That, so that all things may be done decently and in order, Dr. Schulz immediately be reinstated to his position and, if there exists good cause to take disciplinary action against him, such be stated by the Concordia University Wisconsin administration publicly—because this has now become a public matter through its actions—so that Dr. Schulz may have all process due him and the right to defend his good name before the Church.
