WHEREAS, Recent issues have led to the closure of three Concordia universities and the formal visitation by the President of the Synod of two others; and

WHEREAS, These institutions have been created and supported by our faithful fore bearers, often at great personal sacrifice; and

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon us to continue their legacy and make good use of the treasures they have handed down to us for the benefit of Christ’s Church; and

WHEREAS, Bylaw 3.10.5.2 provides for the appointment of a Synod vice-president to the board of regents for the seminaries;

therefore be it

Resolved, That in order to facilitate greater oversight of the Concordia University System schools, Bylaw 3.10.6.2 be amended as follows:

3.10.6.2 The board of regents of each college and university shall consist of no more than 1819 members, all voting. … is located or a district vice-president as his standing representative shall serve as an ex officioa regular member. commissioned minister, or a layperson, shall be appointed by the Praesidium of the Synod after consultation with the President of the respective institution and the Board of Directors of the Synod.
