WHEREAS, Concordia University, Portland (CUP) served the mission of the Gospel in the Pacific Northwest for 115 years (1905– 2020); and
WHEREAS, Many ministries across the United States and the world have been impacted by graduates from CUP; and
WHEREAS, Many people grew spiritually and came to and/or renewed their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior through their experience at CUP; and
WHEREAS, The students benefitted greatly from the dedicated faculty and staff who served them at the university; and
WHEREAS, CUP became a place where many people were introduced to the Gospel for the first time; therefore be it
Resolved, That the Northwest District in convention give thanks to God for the ministry of CUP; and be it further
Resolved, That the district in convention give thanks to God for the faculty and staff who gave of themselves to the ministry over the years; and be it further
Resolved, That the elected officers of the district be charged with keeping the legacy and ministry of CUP alive within the district and within the Synod; and be it further
Resolved, That the elected officers of the district seek ways to provide appropriate means of identifying and training “workers for the harvest” from within the district who are from the district and who wish to serve the Lord of the harvest both in the district or throughout the world; and be it finally
Resolved, That the Synod in convention gratefully acknowledge the blessing that CUP was to our church body and to the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
